Trip to Ajmer and Pushkar…………

29/07.09
Enter Ajmer: and the first impression I got was a city too crowded for its small lanes, and being not such a big fan of crowded places i wasn’t smitten by the place. but you can hardly expect a 6 lane highway, as the city was build in the 7th century.
From the station it’s a fifteen minutes ride to the Ajmer Sharif Dargah…..and not being rude or anything but the xperience wasn’t very good. Considering the fact that the Dargah is jostled by lot and lots of people…..you won’t get two minute of peaceful contact with the God……but the amzing thing about even this situation was, that seeing the crowd there you will never be able to guess that this was the same place which went through a series of bomb blasts.
You’ll clearly see a major factor there, that is God synonym to money…..not that i have anything against money being given for god, it’s the way the money will be asked that bothers me…..before anything else, even before you have closed your eyes to rememebr god, the first thing to be asked will be money……….and that didn’t went very well in my impression book. So all in all, i was happy that i had a visit to the Dargah, but i wasn’t too happy with the way things run over there. One of the many regret sthat i had was the fact that the Fort of Prithviraj Chouhan is no more in the condition that i could see, for someone who is hugely intrested in the history of Prithviraj Chouhan, this was a set back…..

Enter Pushkar: well i was happy, that i could breathe fresh air, it’s a forty minute drive from Ajmer to Pushkar, not a very long journey……there’s a huge history chapter behind the Brahma Temple there (that’s the only temple pf Brahma in the world) and its quite interesting. Though visiting pushkar in November is a better idea.
Even pushkar is not far behind when it comes to money in the name of God, i guess its a million dollor industry running there and only god knows, how much money actually goes where its should actually go.
All in all, it was a good experience…..though not mesmerizing…..and may be i’ll remember ajmer for all wrong reasons rather than right.
but whatever………there is one things i am so sure of …nothing sweet then Home sweet home
